Pronto Pianos is a piano moving company based in the Western Cape, and pianos are our speciality. Every job gets a team trained for the weight, the value and the history of the instrument in front of them.

We're known for the jobs others turn down: narrow passages, steep driveways and winding staircases. With proper technique, our own upright and grand piano trolleys and specialised equipment, we make difficult access safe and routine.

  1. Upright pianos

    Home, school and studio uprights, protected in fitted covers and carried on trolleys built for uprights.

  2. Grand and concert grand pianos

    Baby grands to full concert grands. Legs and lyre removed where needed, carried on our grand piano trolley and reassembled on site.

  3. Antique pianos

    Older instruments get extra padding, extra time and an experienced team.

  4. Long-distance delivery

    Cape Town to Johannesburg, Durban or anywhere between, often on a shared load to keep costs down.

Four steps from quote to delivery.

  1. Tell us about the job

    The piano, both addresses, and every stair, lift, narrow passage and steep driveway in between. Photos help.

  2. We quote and plan

    You get a clear quote. A 50% deposit books your date, and the balance is due 4 days before collection.

  3. On the day

    Our trained team fits your piano's cover, blankets and pallet-wraps the parts, and secures everything with sponges and straps in our big piano van. Any dismantling is included.

  4. Placed and checked

    Set down exactly where you want it. Check it over with us before we leave.

Local jobs across Cape Town and the Winelands, and long-distance deliveries to every province. Longer trips often share a load, which keeps the cost down. Timing can shift a little with the route, and we'll keep you posted.

We deliver pianos to and from Cape Town, Stellenbosch, Paarl, Franschhoek, Somerset West, Hermanus, George, Knysna, Gqeberha, East London, Bloemfontein, Kimberley, Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban, Mbombela and Polokwane.

How much will it cost?

Every job is quoted on its own. The price depends on the piano, the distance, and the stairs and access at both ends.

How do I book?

Send us the details and we'll quote. A 50% deposit confirms your date, and the other 50% is due 4 days before collection.

Can you take pianos up and down stairs?

Yes. Stairs and hard access are our speciality, and our specialised equipment carries pianos safely up and down tight stairways. When you ask for a quote, mention every stair, lift, narrow passage and steep driveway so we come fully prepared. Very difficult access can cost extra, and crane or hoisting work is quoted separately.

What about grand pianos?

Baby grands, grands and concert grands are a big part of our work. We take the legs and lyre off where needed, wheel the piano on our grand piano trolley, and reassemble it on arrival. Concert grands take extra planning, and we'll cover that in your quote.

Do you take every brand of piano?

Yes. We carry every make and model, from everyday uprights and digitals to Steinway and Bösendorfer grands, and we are the appointed piano movers for Fazioli in the Western Cape.

Is my piano insured?

Yes. Every piano we carry is insured in transit for up to R250 000. If your piano is worth more, tell us when you book and we'll arrange additional cover.

Will it need tuning afterwards?

Yes. Your piano needs to acclimatise to its new home before it's tuned, so give it at least 2 to 3 weeks to settle in, then call your tuner. Tuning isn't included unless we quote for it.

What if I need to cancel or change the date?

Let us know in writing. With more than 2 days' notice, 50% of the quote is payable. With 2 days' notice or less, the full amount is payable.

What happens if the weather turns?

If roads or weather make it unsafe, we postpone and rebook as soon as we safely can. Safety comes first for your piano, your home and our team.
